Our building director and Bruno & Evelyne Hill Betti Youth Program director is no stranger to Winnett. Lance is the son of Deb Grantier (Winnett ’77) and Hank Olson and the grandson of the late Larry and Marlene Grantier. Growing up in Grass Range, Lance understands the needs of our rural communities and how important enrichment opportunities can be to our underserved youth. He was a member of the WGR basketball and track teams and helped lead both programs to state in 2009. Following graduation, Lance attended the University of Montana, acquiring a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Parks, Tourism, and Recreation Management: a background that set him up nicely for our youth program.  Lance has worked with the AmeriCorps program leading and directing summer youth programs, planned outdoor events for community members, and most recently has been a sales associate with Aflac.

Ready to get back to Central Montana, Lance returned to his roots and the family ranch located southeast of Grass Range. He has been busy updating Grandpa Willis Olson’s home, preparing to turn it into an Airbnb.  Lance hopes to build a home on the ranch, which will allow him to be active in our small communities. A sports fan at heart, Lance hopes to stay up to date with WGR/GRW sports by attending the games and school events. Lance is an MOA basketball official so you’ll probably see him on the court; just don’t yell at him too loudly.

In his free time, Lance enjoys spending time with his family and friends.  He is especially fond of his dogs and enjoys exploring new places, as well as camping, hunting, and skiing…basically anything he can do outside with his favorite people.

When asked about his goals for the Bruno and Evelyne Hill Betti Youth Program Lance replied,

“I am excited to get a new program going for youth in Petroleum County and surrounding areas to be more involved after school and during the summer. Growing up here I was given opportunities to excel in sports, community service, 4-H, and a variety of school programs.  With this program, I want to be able to offer more to these kids with a similar mindset. I’m thankful to the community of Winnett and the Board for this opportunity and the amount of work they’ve put into the future of these kids.  I look forward to working with everyone to make this a successful program.”
